Twatwaffles Of The Week

And away we go..........................
First a Dicknozzle of Douchebaggery to all of those folks who just INSIST on reposting every silly "If you ate crickets by the campfire and rolled in the pig slop when you were a kid and survived, repost this." on Facebook.  Ya' know, most of the people who repost this nonsense are my age, and don't let them fool you.  Growing up in the 70s and 80s wasn't all that great.  The Cold War.  Inflation.  Sky high interest rates.  Racial strife.  Marxist rebels in Central America.  The Iran hostage crisis.  The energy crisis.  Yeah, baby, a good time was had by all.  Give me the here and now any day.

Number Five:  A thus far unidentified Pembroke Park, FL, man who attempted to rob a gas station in the wee hours, only to discover the cashier and money were safe and secure behind bullet proof glass.  While this will not garner him twatwaffle status, the fact that the sodding fool took his mask off while still being recorded by the store's video surveillance will.  Hey, Einstein, keep your mask on until you are out of range of the cameras next time.

Keep Your Mask On Next Time

Number Four:  Christopher Hildreth, 20, of Jaffrey, NH, who is accused of adding nasal mucus to the coffee cups of two local police officers at a Dunkin Doughnuts.  (Insert tasteless cop and doughnut joke here.)  It seems this young man disappeared (or so he thought) into a back room after the officers ordered their beverage where he added the (ahem) extra ingredient.  Of course, the police officers saw the whole thing on store video and reported Hildreth to his manager.  Hildreth was subsequently sacked.  Okay, once we get beyond the yuck factor here, again, Mr. Brilliant be aware of the cameras!!!!  I guess the old saying about only the dumb ones getting caught really is true.

Would You Like Sugar, Cream, Or Snot In Your Coffee?

Number Three:  We have a four way tie for the third biggest twatwaffle this week as four family members have been charged in the murder of ten year old  Ame Deal who suffocated after being locked in a box.  Again, friends, I don't make this stuff up.  I just report it.  John and Samantha Allen, both 23, were charged with first-degree murder after confessing they had locked Deal in the box.  Cynthia Stoltzmann, 44, and Judith Deal, 62, were charged with child abuse and kidnapping after both admitted they had locked the girl in the box on previous occasions.  It seems that these fine upstanding examples of humanity often locked the young girl in the box as a form of punishment.  On top of that, they tried to convince the investigating law enforcement officers that the girl had willingly climbed into the box while playing hide and seek.  Sure, and she willingly stayed in there until she died to avoid being "it".  Unbelievable!!!!  Now, I would like to see these four imprisoned in a stifling hot box for about the next 95 years.

No, Officer, We Didn't Kill Her. She Was Playing Hide And Seek

Number Two:  Robert Bruszenski, 68, of York, SC, who informed police that he "just lost it" and severely beat his DISABLED 40 year old daughter.  The daughter suffers from MS and spends the vast majority of her time in a wheelchair and has virtually no use of her legs and very limited use of her arms.  The daughter reportedly needed help going to the bathroom, and this is what caused Bruszenski to snap.  He called local police, admitted to beating the woman, and threatened to kill her if they didn't quickly arrive at his home.  Upon arrival, officers found the woman with a swollen eye, and blood on her face, nose, and lips.  You know, as a longtime EMT and a student nurse, I find this particularly disturbing,  It isn't as if these folks asked for their lot in life.  Do you not think they would prefer to be able to go to the loo without assistance?  As fellow humans, we need to treat these folks with all the honor and dignity that human beings deserve.  The abuse happening at the hand of a parent makes it that much more sickening.

Number One:  Suspected Taliban insurgents who hanged an 8 year old boy in the Helmand province of Afghanistan.  The boy's father, a local police officer, refused to surrender himself, his staff, and his vehicle to local militants, after which they took the boy from his home and hanged him.  One more time, guys and girls, I do not make this up.  I just report it, so you don't forget how lucky you really are to be relatively healthy, safe, and secure.  As for the boy, if there is a heaven, I truly hope he is there.  As for the insurgents, I hope Allah has a particularly hot, miserable place in hell for those who kill in the name of a perfectly peaceful and honorable religion, Islam.

Militants Hang 8 Year Old Boy

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Do People Have No Pride In Themselves Anymore???

You know what I don't understand?  I don't understand why people seem to take no pride in themselves.

Allow me to elaborate................

This morning, I had blood drawn at a local hospital for a routine physical exam.  While I was waiting to go back to be poked, I was subjected to the following individuals.

A sixty-something woman wearing pink short shorts and a skin tight pink tank top with no bra.  Her hair looked as if it hadn't been washed for several days, and she was wearing flip-flops.  Yeah, that just oozes with class, doesn't it?

A twenty-something female who, for reasons I just can't fathom, apparently decided that the hospital phone in the waiting room was her private line as she spent the entire time making and receiving (yes, receiving) calls on it.  Of course, all of us in the waiting area were subjected to her extremely loud and rude diatribes directed at the person, or persons, on the other end of the line.  She was able to tear herself away from the phone long enough to slurp down about half dozen Cokes in less than an hour.  I mean, I like Coke, but DAMN!!!!!!!  Then, she had the audacity to ask the staff if one of them could go get her a sandwich because her ride was delayed.  Seriously?  How about to trot your sorry self to the cafeteria instead of thinking that hospital property and staff are your personal belongings?

A forty something woman (No, I am not picking on the ladies.  It just happened that the most obnoxious were female today.) who obviously didn't realize that overweight women shouldn't wear tops that are two sizes too small.  (I am a fat boy myself, but I have the common decency to wear my clothes baggy!!!)  As if that weren't bad enough, her shirt had a HUGE stain in the middle of it.  Then, there was her sodding cell phone.  She couldn't possibly have had the foresight to put the bloody thing on vibrate.  Oh, no, far better to have the ring tone volume cranked to ten, and her ring tones were incredibly annoying, including the theme from "Cops".  I've no idea what this person did for a living, but she must have been important since said cell phone rang about every 37 seconds!!!  Of course, she also felt like she needed to scream into her phone.  I really think a lot of these folks could save money on cell phones, if they would just stick their heads out the window and yell..........    In this case, maybe she could use the saving to wash the clothing she already owns and purchase some that fits!!!!

The scary part about this is that there were only five total people, including yours truly here, in the waiting area, so fully sixty percent of the folks there behaved like buffoons.  Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident.  I guess my point, dear readers, is this.  What ever happened to wearing decent clothing in public?  I mean, you don't have to dress up.  I was wearing gym shorts and a t-shirt, but my clothes were clean, and they matched, and they fit.  How has it become acceptable to wear filthy clothes that don't fit in public places?

Further, whatever happened to conducting oneself with a bit of dignity and class?  Must you yap nonstop on your cell phone?  Must you think that everyone else is your personal gopher?  Must people act like they are the center of the universe?  It is utterly mind boggling; and I, for one, have had enough of it!!!  Maybe we should all try to see ourselves as others see us.  What do you think, ladies and gentlemen?

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Blowhard Glenn Beck Strikes Again

To paraphrase President Ronald Reagan, well, there he goes again.............

That fine, thoughtful, deep, highly intelligent poster child for civilized political commentary, Glenn Beck, has hit a new low; and for him, that is really saying something.  What brilliant, insightful observation has set Mr. Beck apart from the other hot air merchants on both sides of the political spectrum?  Well, in his infinite wisdom, he compared the innocent victims of the terrorist attack in Norway with the Hitler Youth.  Again, I don't make these things up; however, I wouldn't have believed it, had I not seen it and heard it for myself.

Beck Compares Massacre Victims To Hitler Youth

Seriously, Glenn?  Those of us who can put together a string of logical thoughts know that you are a caricature, but this is pathetic, even for you.  These kids were learning about democracy from the ground up.  Perhaps if we tried such a thing here in the US, we wouldn't have so many clueless citizens.  Further, the LAST thing that the Hitler Youth were was a political organization.  Of course, with your obvious lack of knowledge of American and world history, I am not surprised you would not be aware of this well known fact.

I realize you have to be outrageous to compete with Limbaugh, Coulter, and their ilk, but how dare you compare innocent victims of a shooting rampage to a paramilitary group of Nazis?  Disgusting.  And yet there are people out there who think you actually have something to contribute to political discourse in this country.  Maybe after this latest episode, they will see you for the windbag you are.  Here is hoping you fade into obscurity and never pollute our media with your venom again.

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Some Thoughts As Same Sex Marriage Begins In New York

Same sex marriage is a topic that is often visited on this site.  As same sex marriage takes effect in New York, I want to share a few thoughts and a couple of articles on the subject.  After which, I would be interested in hearing your thoughts and opinions, dear readers.
I am obviously thrilled with the turn of events in New York.  Considering that this country was founded on equality and equal protection under the law, I have never understood the steadfast denial of the basic right to marry (see "pursuit of happiness" in the Constitution for further information) to this segment of our population.  By the same token, I have never understood the religious objections to same sex marriage when same sex marriage is predominately directed toward civil marriage, which will allow equal legal protection for same sex couples.

It only seems fitting that same sex couples are afforded the same rights as everyone else.

Why Same Sex Marriage Is Good For Straight America

Sweet Victory

Twatwaffles Of The Week

And away we go..............................
Number Five:  Militant group al-Shabab who are not allowing The World Food Program to reach 2.2 million people in desperate need of aid in famine stricken Somalia.

We Don't Care If People Are Starving To Death. It Is All About Our Militant Ideals

Are people really this cold hearted?  Well, obviously, they are; but I just can't grasp being so callous as to let people starve to death or die attempting to walk to refugee camps rather than let food aid, which is readily available, reach them.  The group, in fact, denies a famine is taking place, disputing the U.N.'s view that tens of thousands of people have already died.  Al-Shabab signaled in early July that it would accept aid groups it had previously banned, but changed course on Thursday, saying groups like WFP are not welcome. The group's refusal to accept aid from Western and "Christian" aid groups means millions could starve — or be forced to begin the hike to help to Kenya, Ethiopia or Mogadishu, the Somali capital, which is also being overwhelmed with refugees.

Allah be praised.  You are keeping out the infidel food.  May you find an extremely hot, extraordinarily hot corner of hell reserved for you when your day comes.

Number Four:  Anders Behring Breivik, a 32 year old Norwegian who expressed right-wing and anti-Muslim views on the Internet and is now suspected of killing scores of Norwegians in an unprecedented attack this week.

Norway Shattered By Attack

Well, folks, we see again what happens when extremist political views are left unchecked.  How does a person become so committed to a particular viewpoint that they can justify killing those they think oppose them?  If this can happen in an open and peaceful country like Norway, when will it happen here again?

On a side note, there is talk that this man is an evangelical Christian.  If this is true and is being covered up by the media in western world, they should be ashamed of themselves!!!!!

Number Three:  TiAndra Davis, 21, of Rancho Cordova, CA, who allegedly left a six month old Pomeranian/Shih Tzy mix puppy in a 93 degree car with no water and with the windows only cracked approximately two inches.

Hot Car Plus Puppy Equals Twatwaffle Every Time

The puppy, Gizmo, was found panting heavily on the rear seat of Davis' car.  The puppy was taken to a hospital but later died.  Davis has been charged with animal cruelty.

I have an idea.  Let's lock her in a sweltering can with no fresh air or water, and see how she likes it!!!!

Number Two:  Catherine Kieu Becker, the Southern California woman accused of cutting off her husband's penis and throwing it into a garbage disposal.

Hey!!!! What Are You Doing With That Knife????

It seems the couple was divorcing and had argued about friends staying in their residence.  I guess she felt this gave her the right to mutilate and torture him.  As I like to say, folks, I don't make this stuff up.  I just report it.

Number One:  A thus far unidentified Kansas City, MO man who stole a donation jar that had been placed at gas station in order to solicit funds to bury an impoverished family's deceased five month old baby.

Someone Please Find This Scumbag And Turn Him Over To The Police

That is right, ladies and gentlemen.  Someone stole money that was intended to help a family bury a dead baby.  He stole from a dead baby.  Does it get any lower than that?  One more time, folks, I don't make this stuff up.

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Is Congress Too Childish To Compromise?

You know what I don't understand?  I don't understand why members of congress, who are allegedly adults, seem incapable of compromising with each other.  Take the "Gang Of Six" proposal to resolve the ongoing debt ceiling issue as an example.

Congress Curbs Enthusiasm for "Gang of Six" Plan

The numbers and statistics of this issue have been reported ad infinitum, and I shall not bore you with them again.  What concerns me about this issue, and so many others, is the absolute refusal of the two parties in congress to negotiate and compromise with each other.  The Republicans scream because the Gang of Six proposal increases taxes on the wealthiest Americans.  The Democrats scream because the Gang of Six proposal cuts entitlements such as Medicare and Medicaid.  They seem to be totally unwilling to budge from their respective positions.

Well, you know what?  I'm a liberal.  I utterly hate the thought of cutting entitlements for the poor and senior, and God forbid the millionaires and billionaires in this country could pay just a bit more in taxes.  However, desperate times call for desperate measures.  As an American first and a liberal second, I think it is unconscionable for my fellow Democrats to utterly refuse to even consider modest cuts to entitlements, and I find it equally repugnant that the Republicans won't even consider modest tax increases on their millionaire buddies.  If nothing else, why won't they let the unnecessary Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans expire?  Why won't Democrats cut some of obvious waste from our entitlement programs?

My point being at when do these people stop pandering to their bases and do what is best for the country?  Are they so polarized and beholden to the far left and far right that they won't even discuss these matters?  Folks, I am far from an economist, but I can tell you with certainty that we are not going to get out of this mess by solely cutting spending with no tax increases any more that we are going to tax our way out of it without spending cuts.  We are all going to have to bite the bullet before the US becomes the next Greece or Portugal.  Are our elected officials more concerned with winning their next election than they are with the long term prosperity of our nation?

When I was a child, my parents taught me that adults compromise and negotiate with each other; not everyone gets everything they want all the time.  It seems like sound advice to me.  What do you think, dear readers?  If you and I understand this concept, why don't our elected representatives?  It all seems so childish and so shortsighted.  What happened to reaching across the aisle and working with the opposite party?  We are all Americans after all, regardless of party affiliation or political views.

I would like to urge all of you to contact your representatives and senators and tell them to grow up, talk to each other, compromise with each other, and work together to solve the country's problems!!!

On a completely unrelated note, I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone who worked on the space shuttle program for the past thirty years.  American is proud of you, and your place in history in unquestioned.

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Thank The Liberals

And today, ladies and gentlemen, we return to our semi-regular feature I like to call "Thank The Liberals".

Do you like the right of people of all colors to use schools and facilities?  Thank the liberals.

Do you like public schools?  Thank the liberals.

Do you like child-labor laws?  Thank the liberals.

Do you like the right to unionize?  Thank the liberals.

Do you like health care benefits?  Thank the liberals.

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Science Class Or Christian Indoctrination Class?

You know what I don't understand?  I don't understand why state boards of education and elected officials insist on trying to inject their personal religious beliefs into public school science classes.  Tonight's articles are from the State of Texas, but this type of thing happens on a regular basis all across America.
Texas School Board To Push For "Intelligent Design"?

Texas In A "Spiritual Battle" In Science Class?

I just don't understand this on many different levels, folks.  First, these are public schools.  It has been the law of the land for many years that religion is not to be taught in public schools.  Public taxes are not to be used for religious indoctrination.  If you want to teach your child about your religion, I have no issue with that.  Just please do so in the house of worship of your choice, in a religious school, or a combination thereof.  However, it has no place in a publicly funded school.

Another thing that bothers me is the amount of time, money, and resources that are utilized by the religious right to try to interject their views into public education.  American children continue to lag behind children in other industrialized nations in math and science scores.  Major corporation and health care providers have to recruit outside the US to find competent engineers, mathematicians, scientists, and physicians.  American children don't even know the history (the true history, mind you, not the Sarah Palin version) of our country, and, yet untold millions of dollars are spent trying to convert science teachers into Christian messengers.  Am I the only one that sees the connection between these things?  Perhaps if we actually taught our children math and real science (not "intelligent design"), we wouldn't be importing our engineers, scientists, and medical doctors from Europe, Asia, and South Asia.  (And yet the same people who want to inject religious dogma into science classes also bellyache about immigration, but, once again, I digress............)

Another point, ladies and gentlemen, why is there no thought whatsoever given to children who are not Christians?  I realize Texas isn't the most multicultural place in the US, but I can promise you that 100% of the population is not Christian.  Why is there no thought given to the Jewish child, the Muslim child, the Buddhist child, the Wiccan child, the Atheist child, and so on?  The lack of respect and consideration, to borrow a phrase from a dear friend of mine, is simply stunning.

The lat point I want to make is that I am utterly baffled by how Texas Governor, Rick Perry, a Republican of course, can actually be considered a viable presidential candidate when he has been the driving force behind this nonsense over the past few years.  Will he try to do to American what he is trying to do to Texas?  Between that and recalling how tragically wrong things went the last time we elected a GOP governor from Texas as president, I certainly hope Perry's obvious presidential ambitions never get off the ground.

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Twatwaffles Of The Week

And away we go......................

Number Five:  The thousands of people who apparently have nothing better to do with their time than create "I Hate Casey Anthony" pages on Facebook.  She was found not guilty.  The case is over.  Get a life, and move on!!!!  A Dicknozzle Of Douchebaggery goes to the tens of thousands of people who have "Liked" these idiotic pages.  On Sunday, Ms. Anthony will be released from jail, a free woman.  For that reason, her name shall not  be mentioned on this site again unless, God forbid, one of these damn fools tries to do her harm.

Should Casey Anthony Go To A Safe House?

Number Four:  Media mogul, Rupert Murdoch, who is founder and head of News Corp.  News Corp controls, among others, the now discontinued "News Of The World" in the UK and "The Wall Street Journal" and that wonderfully fair and balanced icon of upstanding television journalism, FOX News, in the US.  News Corp "journalists" stand accused of hacking into the personal phones and personal records of members of the royal family, world class footballers, celebrities, and thirteen year old murder victim, Milly Dowler.  News Corp is also now rumored to have hacked into the survivors and victims' families of the 9/11 attacks here in the US.

Now, I don't mean to crucify Mr. Murdoch before the investigations into this scandal are completed.  Further, he may not have even known it was going on.  Still, he was in charge of this company and is ultimately responsible for its actions.  If these horrendous accusations are proven true, let us hope that Mr. Murdoch ends up powerless and penniless for the rest of his days.

Murdoch Apologies To Murder Victim's Family

Number Three:  An unidentified 38 year old Venice, FL woman, who is accused of "cleaning" her 18 month old son and her 10 year old daughter with pool chemicals.  According to police reports, the woman would force the children to jump into their swimming pool as soon as highly caustic chemicals had been added or to wash their feet and ankles in these chemicals.  The mother believed she was being infested by "bugs" from the children, and this was the only way to cleanse them.

A huge Dicknozzle Of Douchebaggery goes to local authorities because she has 10 felony charges in her history, including child abuse charges in 2005 and 2008, and arrests for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, domestic battery, and simple battery. In addition, there have been 27 incident reports involving the woman concerning DCF, family violence, suspicious incidents, and welfare checks since 2008, yet the kids remained in her custody.

She Cleaned Her Children With Pool Chemicals

Again folks, I don't make this up. I just report it. In other weeks, this woman would have certainly been Number One, but we have some real winners on this weeks' list. Read on, friends..........

Number Two:  We have a three way tie for Number Two on this week's list.  Oh, and one other exciting detail about these three twatwaffles, they all were living, and committing murder, in essentially the same community where I live.  Trust me, folks, I am oh-so-proud to say I live in the Greater Lafayette-West Lafayette, IN area right now.  The details are as follows:

Our three twatwaffles, Carolann R. Clear, 20, Darren J. Englert, 20, and Antonio O.J. Williams, 25, are accused of  fatally beating 26 year old Jeremy Gibson of Lafayette, IN with an ax or shovel, then later pouring acid on the body in an attempt to prevent someone from identifying him.  One other interesting item, Clear was supposedly the victim's girlfriend.  Yeah, with a love interest like her.......

This is once of the most gruesome crimes to hit our area in years.  And on a personal note, they most likely drove past my home while transporting the body to the area where they attempted to burn and bury it.  That gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling.  Once more, friends, I don't make this stuff up.

Murder Charges Filed In Gruesome Killing

Number One:  Levi Aron, 35, of New York City, who allegedly kidnapped, murdered, and dismembered 8 year old Leiby Kletzky.  The boy reportedly had gotten lost walking home from day camp and asked Aron for directions.  The boy's remains were found in a bloody freezer in Aron's apartment and in trash bags in another nearby neighborhood.  What makes this even more distressing is that both the accused and the victim are members of a close knit Orthodox Jewish community where crime is virtually nonexistent.

There are now what seem to be legitimate questions about Aron's mental health.  If he is shown to be mentally ill, then he needs to be dealt with accordingly with understanding and compassion; however, he would seem to be a treat not only to himself, but also to society as a whole.  It is my hope that he is either imprisoned or hospitalized for a very long time.

New York Man Accused Of Killing Boy Put On Suicide Watch

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Are Bachman And Santorum This Ignorant?

You know what I don't understand?  I don't understand how any person who wants to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate could sign the Family Leader's so-called "marriage vow".  (Pun intended, I am sure.)  Ladies and gentlemen, if you haven't seen this pledge, its original text essentially stared that African American children were better off being born into slavery, where according to this right wing group, both parents were most likely to be present (unless of course one parent was killed or sold off by their owner, but I digress with those pesky historical facts again) as opposed to being born now into a single parent family.

Read The "Vow" Here

Historically inaccurate, you say?  Outrageously offensive to African Americans, you say?  Insulting to single parents nationwide, you say?  Blatantly bigoted, you say?

Well, I say you're right.  However, Republican (of course) presidential candidates, Michele Bachman and Rick Santorum do not agree with you.  Both of these ultra-conservative candidates have vowed to stand by this pledge with Rep. Bachman being the first to actually sign the pledge and return it to Family Leader.

Now, this extreme right-wing organization has since backed off on this part of their pledge, but the rest of the document is almost equally offensive, mean spirited, and undignified.  Oddly, only GOP candidate Mitt Romney has had the decency to say so.

Right Wing Groups Back Off On Offensive Slavery Language

Mitt Romney Shows Some Class

My question, dear readers, is how Bachman and Santorum could actually agree with this pledge in any for, let alone its original form?  Do they really believe what was written, or are they pandering to the religious right that controls the modern day Republican Party?  Which answer to that question is less disturbing?  Do they actually think black kids were better off being born into slavery, or are they so determined to kowtow to the religious right that they will promise to follow and pledge or vow put in front of them?

Is this what the Republican Party has become?  Is this what the right wing in this country has become?  If so, ask me again why I am a liberal and a Democrat.

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Why Do Racism And Bigotry Persist?

You know what I don't understand?  I don't understand why bigotry and racism persist in the world.  Are people born prejudiced?  Honestly, I don't think so.  A three year old child is going to want to be picked up and held by anyone, and I mean---ANYONE, regardless if their skin is the same color as the child's, regardless if their religion is the same as the child's, and regardless of the person's sexual orientation.  I have a really hard time accepting that people are born bigots.

I am more inclined to think that children learn bigoted behavior from their parents, or other adults around whom they spend time, and subsequently become bigots themselves.  Several years ago, I watched a documentary on PBS that was exploring the ongoing conflicts between Arabs and Jews.  An adult male asked a group of really young (less than ten years old) children where Jews were descended from.  Without missing a beat, the kids replied the Jews were the descendants of apes, pigs, and dogs.  So did these kids learn this from the adults in their lives, or were they born this way?  I see the same thing as Christians teach their children that Muslims are evil and as Muslims teach their children that Christians and Jews are apes, dogs, and infidels.

My dear old friend, Brad, shared some rather disturbing pictures (below) that were drawn by a child in Brad's children's school.

Now, are we to think that this child came up with these ideas on his own, or are we to believe that he was influenced by his parents or other adults in his life?  Again, we see this kind of thing so often.  A child calls a black man "coon" or "nigger" because he hears his father do the same.  A child calls a homosexual "fag" or "queer" because she hears her mother do the same.  The kids don't come up with these things on their own, folks.

So I guess my question is this.  Why does it continue?  Why do we as humans, generation after generation, teach our children to fear and hate those who are different from us?  For the record, I am NOT suggesting that EVERYONE teaches their children to think and behave in such an atrocious manner, but Lord knows bigotry is alive and well worldwide.  Why does this never seem to go by the wayside?

What can those of us who are not prejudiced do to prevent bigotry from spreading its vile self from generation to generation?  How can we stop this?  How can we make young people understand these attitudes and behaviors from their elders are not acceptable?  How much longer will this go on around the world?

When we will finally learn to accept that we are all human while celebrating our differences?

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Thank The Liberals................

We liberals seem to be constantly vilified by those on the right, yet let's think about some of the things that are now standard in this country that were championed and brought into being by liberals.

This is a recurring theme that I like to call "Thank The Liberals"

Do you like the 40-hour work week?  Thank the liberals.

Do you like weekends?  Thank the liberals.

Do you like paid vacations?  Thank the liberals.

Do you like women’s voting rights?  Thank the liberals.

Do you like The Civil Rights Act of 1964?  Thank the liberals.

Peace and love my brothers and sisters.

Twatwaffles Of The Week

And away we go...................................
Number Five:  The Justices of the Indiana Supreme Court, who recently ruled that a person riding in a car with a designated driver can still be charged with public intoxication.

Got A Designated Driver? You're Still Going To Jail For PI!!

I understand that Indiana's public intoxication laws are flawed beyond belief, but would this not have been a good time to modify the law from the bench?  Of course, this is the same court that ruled the police can invade innocent Hoosiers' homes without a warrant or any type of probable cause or good reason, so why should I be surprised?  Doesn't this fly in the face of the spirit of using a designated driver?  There you are, dear reader, minding your own business, not being disruptive, being driven home by a sober friend after a night of partaking in adult beverages.  Your designated driver is pulled over for a minor traffic infraction, and off you go to jail!!!!!!!  Only in Indiana.

Number Four:  Stephanie Robinette, 30, of Delaware, OH, who recently pleaded guilty to spraying sheriff's deputies with breast milk.

Keep Back Or I'll Shoot......................My Breast Milk!!!!!!!

According to media reports, the young "lady" literally pumped her breasts in order to squirt milk at law enforcement officers who had arrived to intervene in a domestic violence situation between her and her husband.  Really, folks, can you think of anything more undignified and repugnant; and for a new mother no less?  On top of this, she is a teacher!!!  Way to set an example for your child and your students...............

A Dicknozzle Of Douchebaggery goes to her attorney who must be oblivious to the the fact that blood borne diseases such as HIV can be transmitted through breast milk.

Number Three:  John McClure, the owner of a Clearwater, FL Skyline Chili who took it upon himself to place a sign on his restaurant's door informing the jurors in the Casey Anthony case that they are not welcome in his store.

What? You Did Your Civic Duty And Did It Well? Stay The Hell Out Of My Chili Shack!!!!

Okay, I guess this bonehead can have whatever opinion on the Anthony case that he wants.  Lord knows, he isn't the only one making an ass out of himself over it, but......................  What the bloody hell is he going to do?  Ask all of the patrons as they enter his establishment?  As if any of them would be damn fool enough to admit their membership on said jury.  Also, isn't the idea of owning a restaurant to sell as much food and drink as possible?  Why would he knowingly tell twelve people with greenbacks in their pockets to keep them in their pockets.

A second Dicknozzle Of Douchebaggery goes to the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Americans who seem to be totally clueless as to how the judicial system in this country functions (and functions well for the most part).  Ladies and Gentlemen, what you THINK matters not.  What matters is that the prosecutors in this case did not meet their burden of proof.  Hence, the defendant, Ms. Anthony, deplorable as she may be, is acquitted of the charges against her.  Period.  End of story.

Number Two:  Rich Swier, an activist with the Tea Party Nation who recently stated that anti-gay bullying is not bullying at all; but is, in fact, “peer pressure and is healthy.”

Anti-Gay Bullying Isn't Really Bullying....................

Swier was responding to a report from a Florida group that showed that “77% of all bullying victims are picked on due to sexual orientation, gender identity, or the perception of either.” The report also pointed out that “LGBT youth are up to five times more likely to commit suicide than their straight counterparts.”, but according to Swier, the anti-bullying campaign is nothing more than a sham by “radical gay activists.” He says that it’s all a part of the ever omnipotent “gay agenda” and its plan to indoctrinate school children into the so-called “homosexual lifestyle.”

Friends and frenemies, I don't even know where to start?  It is "radical" to point out that sexual orientation is a reason for a majority of bullying?  It is healthy for an individual to be bullied?  Constant torment at the hands of other children is merely peer pressure?  And what exactly is this "gay agenda" we keep hearing about from the right?  I guess demanding equality under the law is a "radical agenda".  Sodding ridiculous.  These people won't be satisfied until they drag us back into the Stone Age.

Number One:  Kelli Murphy, 41, of Castle Rock, CO, who after a 911 call regarding a suicide attempt told the 911 dispatcher that the kids in her home had "already gone to heaven".

Maybe She Should Have Killed Herself Instead Of Her Kids...

Why were the children on their way to the afterlife?  Because their "mother" allegedly smothered them both to death.  Yet another example of Parent Of The Year, eh, folks?  Somehow, I don't think Ms. Murphy's final destination will be paradise.  Again, dear readers, I don't make this stuff up.

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Presidential Debates On Twitter? RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know what I don't understand?  I don't understand how anyone can actually think political discourse, up to and including presidential debates, should be conducted on Twitter.

Explain Your Position On Tax Reform In 140 Characters Or Less

True confession time...............  I have a Twitter account, but I rarely use it for anything but to post this blog and a "Song Of The Day" for my fellow music lovers.  When I watch people attempt to "debate" politics on Twitter, I never know if I should laugh or cry at the sheer absurdity of it.   For the record, "BHO is an idiot" and "Palin is a moron" and the other thoughtful insight you will find on Twitter do not qualify as intelligent political discussion, at least by my definition.

Now, it is one thing for common citizens and even elected officials to make 140 character statements about the issues of the day and current policy, even though Twitter itself is, by far, the silliest thing I have ever seen.  I mean, really, how can one express a logical thought or opinion in 140 characters?

It was bad enough that President Obama chose to hold a "Twitter Townhall" earlier this week (where he at least did not limit his responses to the 140 characters), but now there are discussion about a presidential debate on Twitter?  I wish I were making this up, but I am not.

Has political debate in this country really sunk to this level?  We are going to limit political discussion to a limited number of characters with no regard to grammar, spelling, or punctuation.  Seriously?  Have we really been this dumbed down as a nation?  The Lincoln-Douglas debates have regressed to...............Twitter.  God save us if this is the case.

I was bemused by the gentleman in the article who said Twitter will essentially force candidates to "answer the question".  You don't say?  I can hardly wait to hear our potential future leaders explain their stance on the Middle East peace process, the tax code, the threat of terrorism, same sex marriage, etc. in 140 characters.  (I take very little solace from the fact that "multiple tweets" will be permitted during this proposed debate.  The whole concept is still sodding inane.)

I understand that media changes, and our politics have to evolve, but Twitter?????????????  May the Good Lord help us.

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Some Thoughts On The Casey Anthony Case

You know what I don't understand?  I don't understand the vitriol being spewed over Casey Anthony being found not guilty of murdering her daughter, Caylee.

Casey Anthony Acquitted on Murder Charges

Let's try to break this down, shall we?

First and foremost, I shall not engage in any discussions/debates about Ms. Anthony's guilt or innocence.  The reason for this is quite simple.  I have no way of knowing whether Ms. Anthony committed this crime or not, which brings me to one of my major concerns with how people have reacted to the verdict.  The fact of the matter is this.  I do not not know if Ms. Anthony is guilty.  As near as I can tell, neither do any of the people, including that windbag Nancy Grace who continues to pollute the airwaves on HLN, who are shrieking nonstop about this on Facebook, Twitter, My Space, etc.  Bluntly, with the exception of Ms. Anthony and the Almighty Himself, no one knows if she killed her daughter.

My problem with the way these hundreds of thousands of people have reacted to this decision is quite simple.  Unless they were in the courtroom, listened to every word of testimony, and reviewed every piece of evidence, how are they reaching the conclusion that Ms. Anthony is guilty of this horrific crime?  Are they basing their opinions on what was presented by all of the shrill media circus surrounding this case, including the aforementioned Ms. Grace?  Folks, the accused are thankfully not tried in the media in this country.  The media and public opinion tried and convicted Gary Condit for killing Chandra Levy.  There was only one problem.  Mr. Condit was not responsible for Ms. Levy's death.

Who Killed Chandra Levy

How can the court of public opinion be so sure about Ms. Anthony's guilt?

In the United States, we have a Constitutional right to a trial by a jury of our peers if we are accused of a crime.  We are not tried by the media.  We are not tried by a majority vote of local or state government officials.  Although a bench trial can be requested, our guilt or innocence is normally not determined by a judge.  Let us not forget the awesome responsibility placed upon jurors in a murder case.  Twelve citizens from various walks of life hold a person's freedom, or even their life, in their hands.  We can only hope that this grim responsibility is taken extremely seriously by those entrusted with it.  Is a trial by jury a perfect system?  Absolutely not, but, much like democracy, it is terribly flawed; but it is better than anything else that has been tried.

The burden of proof in a criminal trial rests with the prosecution (ie the government).  Again, would we really want it any other way?  Would we want the defense to have to prove innocence?  Would we want governmental prosecutors having the ability to take away our freedom without holding the burden of proof?  In the Anthony case, the prosecution clearly did not meet this burden.  Again, only Ms. Anthony knows if she killed her daughter; but if she did, the prosecution did not prove their case against her beyond a reasonable doubt.  Again, is he system perfect?  No.  However, what are the alternatives?

On a side note, I truly do not understand why the prosecutors in this case brought first degree murder charges against Ms. Anthony.  Proving murder one is extraordinarily difficult as well it should be.  It involves proving premeditation and myriad of other things.  I cannot help but wonder if a second degree murder charge would have been a better option.

Further, we are presumed innocent until proven guilty; proven guilty by the above mentioned jury of our peers after the previously noted government prosecutors make their case beyond a reasonable doubt.  In the Middle East, some governments practice sharia law with barbaric punishments and no jury trial.  In Mexico, the accused are assumed guilty until proven innocent.  Think about that for a few minutes.  Would anyone here want to live under either of those legal systems?  The American system is flawed, but I would certainly not want to deal with anyone else's system.

The bottom line is this, friends and frenemies.  Those of you who want to hang this young lady from the tallest palm tree in Orlando have absolutely nothing upon which to base your assumption of Ms. Anthony's guilt.  (And incidentally, if any of my readers did sit through the entire trial, I would be very much interested to hear your thoughts on this case.)  Plainly, the prosecution did not meet their burden of proof.  Is a child killer about to walk free?  Perhaps.  Again, only Ms. Anthony knows the full truth.  I don't, and you don't.  I find it very distasteful that she is being tried and convicted in the court of public opinion, and I find it even more distasteful that the American justice system, which has been in place for 235 years, is being vilified in the same manner as Ms. Anthony.

I would rather seen thousands of the guilty walk the streets than to see one innocent lose his freedom.

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.

Twatwaffles Of The Week

And away we go...........................

First, a Dicknozzle  of Douchebaggery:  The mainstream media, who seems to think that Maria Shriver filing for divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger, is big, big news.  So big, in fact, that I got not one, not two, but three breaking news alerts from three different media outlets over it today.

Arnold And Maria Are Divorcing? Can I Get A "Who Cares"?

I've included a link to CNN's story about this in case you are one of the six people who haven't already been bombarded with "news" about it, but seriously, does the media have nothing else to cover?

Number Five:  The life guards and managers at a public swimming pool in Massachusetts, as well as three local health inspectors, who were involved in a situation where a woman's body, yes, her dead body, went undetected at the bottom of the pool until it decomposed enough to float to the surface.

A second Dicknozzle of Douchebaggery goes to a nine year old neighbor and his family who went to the pool with the deceased.  It seems the nine year old and the victim collided while playing on a slide at the pool, but either no one noticed, or cared, that the little boy surfaced but the victim did not.

Hey, Where Is Our Neighbor? Eh, Who Cares? Let's Go For Ice Cream.

Seriously?  Again, folks, I don't make this stuff up.  I just report it.

Number Four:  Governor and potential presidential candidate, Rick Perry (R-TX) who is will host a prayer summit at Reliant Stadium in Houston. The event, dubbed "The Response" and funded by the American Family Association (which was labeled a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center).  It isn't so much Gov. Perry being involved in some type of prayer gathering.  Obviously, he has to kowtow to the Christian Right that controls the Republican Party.  It is more allowing himself to be associated with this group, which is known for, among other things, these lovely tidbits:

  • At this event only Christians will be allowed to share the podium with Perry.
  • Only Christians will be permitted to speak at the non-denominational event. If representatives of other faiths (particularly Muslims) were to be included, such inclusion would promote "idolatry."
  • The American Family Association's issues director has said that gays are "Nazis" and that Muslims should be converted to Christianity. Another organizer, Doug Stringer, has said that 9/11 was God's punishment for the nation's creeping secularism.
  • Jay Swallow, whose endorsement is trumpeted on The Response's website, and who runs "A Christian Military Training Camp for the purpose of dealing with the occult and territorial enemy strong holds in America".
All Welcome, Assuming You're Christian

Yeah, those are just the kind of folks you ought to associating with to prove that you could be a president for ALL Americans.  Nice work, Governor.

Number Three:  The housekeeper in the Dominique Strauss-Kahn sexual assault case, who it would seem has serious credibility issues not only with her accusations about Strauss-Kahn, but also what she put on her tax forms and even her asylum application.  The alleged victim told "substantial lies about her own background and the facts of this case."  While the charges still stand, Strauss-Kahn has been released from house arrest.

It Is All About The "He Said; She Said"...............

Okay, folks, this is another of my pet peeves.  You know how I rail about there being no excuses for sexual assault and rape, right?  Well, there is also no excuse for someone bringing false accusations of such a heinous crime against anyone.  While we don't know if that is what happened, the whole matter is starting to smell bad.  We will have to watch this matter closely and see how it plays out.

Number Two:  Andrew Lalos, 34, a Cawley Middle School music teacher near Hooksett, NH, who was arrested on sexual assault charges after he allegedly had a sexual relationship with a student in 2005.  Police accused Lalos of having sex with the victim, who police said was between the ages of 13 and 17 at the time, on Dec. 16, 2005 -- Lalos' 29th birthday. Investigators said Lalos had the girl perform sex acts between Sept. 5 and Dec. 16 at Memorial School and Cawley Middle School.

Sicko Teacher Has Sex With Underage Student

Once again, friends and frenemies, it is bad enough when males sexually assault females, but when a teacher, or any other person of authority, takes advantage of someone under their sphere of influence, it is absolutely stomach churning.

Number One:  Barry Winters, 60, who will be charged with first degree murder for  pouring gasoline on Evelyn Spodnik, a 57 year old elementary school teacher, and lighting her on fire.  Spodnik succumbed to her injuries last Friday.

Burned Teacher Dies Of Her Injuries

Again, I don't make this stuff up.  I just report it.  The only good news, if you can call it that, is that Winters was also severely burned in the fire that resulted from his unspeakably cruel and heartless actions.  While a part of me would just as soon this animal die as well, another part of me would like to see him suffer through a lengthy and agonizing recovery, followed by a lifelong incarceration where he can spend the rest of his years looking at his own scars while the screams of his victim echo in his ears.

Peace and love, my brothers and sisters.
